Published since May 2008, the quarterly statistical Bulletin of the Délégation Unédic AGS presents statistics on beleaguered companies and on the impact of receivership proceedings.
The news bulletin presents exclusive statistics on wage guarantee and the activities of the AGS in the context of the receivership proceedings. The key figures on main changes are provided for 12 months year on year, in other words the last 12 months closed at the end of the 1st and 2nd quarter 2010.
SUMMARY OF THE LAST QUARTERLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN
Fewer cases for AGS in the first quarter of 2010
With the French economy tentatively continuing the gradual recovery started in the third quarter of 2009, 2010 can be seen as a transitional year. Although the number of companies in difficulty remains high in all sectors and geographic areas, considerably fewer companies are joining their ranks, reversing recent trends in AGS indicators.
As at the second quarter of 2010 the number of employees benefitting from the AGS wage guarantee scheme over the previous 12 months fell by -0.9%, confirming the downward turn first observed in the previous quarter.
The number of cases of automatic AGS involvement in judicial liquidation or receivership proceedings fell significantly by -19.7% in the first quarter of 2010, bringing the figure for the previous 12 months down to +1.4% from +13.4% at the end of 2009 and +20.8% as at Q3 2009.
Likewise, there was a marked slowdown in the increase in the number of protection proceedings in Q1 2010: +59.6% over the previous 12 months, compared to +99.9% as at the end of 2009.
Advances and funds recovered
As at 30 June 2010, a total of € 2.149 billion had been advanced by the AGS wage guarantee scheme over the previous 12 months, representing an annual increase of +23% (compared to +37% as at the end of the previous quarter). Funds recovered also increased by +16.8% over the previous 12 months.
Given the unchanged 0.40% contribution rate in 2010, a positive cash balance can be expected by the end of the year.
